Inside an Examination

Often called a check-up. Routine dental examinations cost £70, or are covered by our dental plans.2

Each tooth examined for wear, cracks and decay
Gum measurements to pick up gum disease early
Screening of your mouth, tongue and throat for mouth cancer
A look at the fillings, crowns or bridges you have
How your teeth meet, and your jaw joints
Low-dose digital X-rays, taken only when needed

How Often Should You Come?

The gap between visits can be as short as three months or as long as two years, set by the health of your teeth and gums. We follow national guidance and tailor it to you, instead of defaulting to six months.

A hygiene visit every three to six months helps most people too. Our dental plans include both, so routine care comes to one fixed monthly fee.

Every filling we place is tooth-coloured, and crowns are designed from an iTero digital scan, so there's no putty.

Replacing Missing Teeth

Keeping your own tooth always comes first. If it can't be saved, here are your choices.

Dental Implants

Replaces the tooth on its own, without leaning on its neighbours. From £2,900 including the crown.

Bridges

A replacement tooth attached to the teeth beside the gap, from £550 per unit. About bridges

Dentures

Partial or full dentures that you take out, in acrylic or cobalt chrome, from £495. About dentures

Implant-Retained Dentures

Your denture clips onto implants and stays put. From £8,500 per jaw.

Questions

Examinations, fillings and crowns, answered.

Is a dental examination the same as a check-up?–
Yes. Most people know it as a check-up, but at Comely Bank Dental we call it a dental examination. Your dentist looks at your teeth, gums and mouth, including screening for signs of mouth cancer, takes X-rays if they're needed and explains any findings before treatment is planned. A routine dental examination costs £70, or £95 for a first visit with X-rays, and dental plans include both. Children of our dental plan members are seen free on the NHS.
