Fees range from £450 for an incisor to £595 for a molar. Dental plan members pay £405 to £536.2
Signs You May Need One
Some teeth give no symptoms at all, and the problem is only spotted on an X-ray during a dental examination.

How It Works
Typically one or two visits.
Examination and X-Ray
We identify the cause and talk you through the options and the fee before starting.
Cleaning the Canals
We numb the tooth, take out the infected tissue, then clean and shape the canals. If it's very painful, we dress it first and finish at a second appointment.
Sealing and Restoring
We fill and seal the canals, then restore the tooth with a filling or, for most back teeth, an onlay or crown.
Root Canal or Extraction?
Saving your natural tooth is usually the better option, and over time it costs less than removing and replacing it.
After Treatment
Does It Last?
The majority of root canal treatments succeed, and a properly restored tooth can go on for decades. Back teeth usually need an onlay or crown to prevent cracking.
Should a previous root filling fail, retreatment is often possible, from £595. Where a tooth is complex, your dentist may recommend a CT scan, which maps the canals in 3D.
Antibiotics can't cure an infected tooth by themselves. They're for spreading infection only, and the tooth still needs treating.
